PRODUCTION PLANNING MANAGER - JACKSONVILLE, FL
Purpose of Position
This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the planning and management of production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company’s productive capacity.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee and seek to improve all aspects of Jacksonville production planning by reviewing current methodology and processes.
- Develop production planning strategies and activities to maximize the use of organization resources to meet established production specifications and schedules.
- Oversee Jacksonville Production Planners and coordinate with Manufacturing Managers in developing a production schedule to ensure on time delivery is achievable.
- Plan and implement schedule projections to drive production and inventory planning goals.
- Develop estimated manufacturing time for assemblies and align with the production team on recommended improvements to reduce cycle time for the various product categories.
- Generate reports and develop presentations to help management understand the production planning perspective.
- Track and maintain monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for production planning performance.
- Reconcile production execution with planning to determine if process revisions are necessary to gain efficiencies.
- Interface with production and supply chain management to determine necessary actions to meet customer requirements.
- Monitor performance to commitments and initiates department lead time required for procurement of materials and engineering to avoid costly delay, customer dissatisfaction and complaints.
- Provide input to the Sales Team and Director of Planning on lead times for Jacksonville facilities based on capacity levels.
- Perform other duties which may be required by supervisor.
Supervision of Personnel:
- Production Planners
- Production Schedulers
- Production control coordinators
Competencies:
- Knowledge of planning, scheduling, manufacturing control, and production processes.
- Ability to work in and with an ERP/MRP system (Infor/Syteline experience is a plus)
- Excellent computer skills including a high degree of skill in Excel
- Demonstrated problem solving, quantitative analysis, and analytical abilities
- Proactive communicator who can clearly articulate department needs across all levels of the organization
- Team player with a proactive, positive attitude, and a strong sense of self-motivations, accountability, and responsibility
- Familiarity with manufacturing/processing environment preferred
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of job experience and education.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Production Control/Scheduling in a technical or manufacturing environment with progressive levels of responsibility.
- CPIM Certification is a bonus.
- Fabrication scheduling experience preferred.
