Available Positions:

PLC - AUTOMATION PROGRAMMER

IEM Power Systems, located in Jacksonville, FL, is a subsidiary of Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM), North America’s largest independent full-line manufacturer of electrical distribution and power quality equipment. IEM Power Systems designs and builds innovative power systems for critical applications where continuous and reliable power is required.

You will be responsible for working with an electrical design engineer to develop custom PLC programs including developing custom designed HMI monitoring systems, and communications with devices such as power meters, relays, transducers etc. using numerous protocols including Modbus, Profibus, Canbus etc. This will include analyzing customer specifications and description of operations, installing & testing systems software in switchgear assemblies, and providing support for start-up and field service. Domestic and international travel will be required from time to time.

Requirements include:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in control system design and programming
  • 4 year degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Field experience in commissioning and servicing control systems
  • Cross platform PLC and HMI experience
  • Proficiency with either: Allen Bradley PLC/HMI or GE PLC/HMI
  • Knowledgeable on SCADA systems and applications would put you at an advantage
  • Ability to design efficient communication architectures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Self-motivated individual, with good time management practices
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in the English Language

FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN/ENGINEER

IEM Canada - Industrial Electric Mfg. (Canada) was formed in 2007 to expand IEM’s offering to include Power Distribution and Power Generation electrical distribution solutions in both Canada and the US. IEM is the largest independent full-line manufacturer of electrical distribution equipment in North America. IEM Canada offers access to the full complement of electrical distribution products and services provided by IEM, including local design consulting, custom manufacturing, sales and service support. This new positions offers an exciting growth opportunity with a very employee-oriented company.

This position will be responsible for the in-house testing, verification and start-up in the field of a project which will include performing CSA or UL inspections, developing test procedures, performing set-up and dynamic adjustment of analog and digital governor systems, voltage regulator systems and engineer generator controllers. You will also perform modifications and repairs to existing systems.

Requirements: A minimum 5 years of experience with multiple/paralleling generator control system start-ups utilizing multi-function protection relays (Basler, GE or Schweitzer a plus) and multi-function engine controllers (Woodward & ComAp a plus). A Technology or Engineering Degree is preferred. Experience using several types of test equipment including Hi-Pot, Meggar, 3 Phase Relay Test Equipment, milliamp simulators and multimeters is also required. Strong computer skills – the ability to make changes in the field to HMI screen & PLC ladder logic programming – are highly desirable along with Autocad. A willingness to travel, a team player, strong communication skills and an ability to work independently without supervision are a must. Travel is about 50% to 75% with the remaining time assisting with in-house field service and possibly engineering.

SWITCHGEAR AND CONTROLS DESIGN ENGINEER (MV/LV)

This new positions offers an exciting growth opportunity with a very employee-oriented company.

You will be responsible for the design of medium and low voltage switchgear for commercial applications on a project by project basis. Primary duties will include equipment layout, component selection, electrical & wiring design, and bill of material summarization; technical review of new projects with sales / marketing group, and interface with customers / consultants to resolve any technical design issues in parts / specifications / drawings. This position will include some travel to Toronto.

Requirements: A BSEE, EET or equivalent and a minimum 3 years of experience designing medium voltage (5 kV – 38 kV) and low voltage switchgear. This includes a familiarity with: IEEE/ANSI 37.20 and UL891/1558 design guidelines as well as Arc Flash standards IEEE1584 and NFPA70E, product testing/certification and Arc flash testing, experience with complex PLC control (hardware design) and writing sequence of operations for complex commercial applications. Excellent communication skills are also a must. Familiarity with one or more PLC platforms such as Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc and Siemens, and HMI’s such as Wonderware, Intellution, UL / CSA certification and testing experience, and design experience in paralleling switchgear and/or automatic transfer are desirable.

SENIOR SWITCHGEAR ENGINEER

IEM Power Systems, located in Jacksonville, FL, is a subsidiary of Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM), North America’s largest independent full-line manufacturer of electrical distribution and power quality equipment. IEM Power Systems designs and builds innovative power systems for critical applications where continuous and reliable power is required.

As a Senior Switchgear Engineer, your responsibilities will include the design and development of unique custom switchgear utilizing industry standard communication protocols to multiple PLC’s, protective relays and 3rd party devices. You will also be creating innovative solutions working directly with the customer utilizing industry cutting-edge components. Managing a project, you will interface internally with sales, test/QA, programmers and field service.

Requirements: A BSEE or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years experience designing switchgear with a solid understanding of low and medium voltage switchgear design standards and applications. This should include familiarity with: UL 891, UL1558, UL1670, and ANSI C37.20 design standards. You must also have a solid knowledge of low and medium voltage switchgear protection schemes including circuit breaker trip units, protective relays and ground fault schemes. Experience with generator controls including stand-alone operation, multiple generators operating in parallel on an isolated bus and generators operating in parallel with utility are also a must. Experience with multi-function engine/generator controllers, AutoCAD, and an understanding of basic motor controls and programmable logic controllers would be a plus. Excellent communication skills and being self-motivated are required.

CONTROLLER

This position offers an exciting opportunity within an employee-oriented, growing company.

Reporting to the CFO, you will be the Controller for the IEM Group – Eastern Operations. The first year will include training and internal audit, managing numerous projects and helping with a multi-site ERP software conversion. You will aid the CFO with responsibilities over the Belgium and Florida operations as well, and over time take on increasing responsibility within the overall organization. Some travel is required (6 trips per year). We offer competitive pay and benefits and a sane working schedule.

Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum 3 years of experience as a Director of Accounting or Controller with a strong accounting background in an industrial or manufacturing environment. This experience should include managing a staff, closing the books, budgeting and forecasting, and cash management. Good verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical skills, being a team player, and having an excellent working knowledge of EXCEL are also a must. Masters level coursework or CPA, manufacturing experience and knowledge of Infor Syteline would be a plus.

PRODUCTION PLANNER

IEM Power Systems, located in Jacksonville, FL, is a subsidiary of Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM), North America’s largest independent full-line manufacturer of electrical distribution and power quality equipment. IEM Power Systems designs and builds innovative power systems for critical applications where continuous and reliable power is required.

This position will be responsible for planning and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company’s productive capacity as well as serving as liaison between the Commercial Service Department and Production.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review new customer orders and establish shipping schedules compatible with customer requirements and production capabilities
  • Analyze sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements
  • Obtain commitments on completion dates for processes to complete and ship orders as scheduled
  • Monitors performance to commitments and initiates department lead time required for procurement of materials and engineering to avoid costly delay, customer dissatisfaction and complaints
  • Coordinate planning and scheduling with the production floor on order release dates and timing of assembly and shipping
  • Prepares daily line efficiency reports for the Production Department and tracks the status of production daily

Requirements: A 4 year college degree in Supply Chain/Materials Management or Business Administration and a combination of 3 to 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Management or Production Control. Working knowledge of ERP systems, manufacturing procedures and workflow, and shop capacity a must. Good verbal and written communication skills are required.

ON-SITE POWER SALES ENGINEER

IEM Power Systems, located in Jacksonville, FL, is a subsidiary of Industrial Electric Mfg. IEM Power Systems designs and builds innovative power systems for critical applications where continuous and reliable power is required.

Reporting to the VP of Sales & Marketing, you will be responsible for selling electric power generation products including generators, switchgear and control systems. In this position you will identify current and future customer service requirements by establishing a personal rapport with potential and current customers, provide product, service or engineering information to customers, establish new accounts and service existing accounts, plan and organize sales call schedule, prepare proposals and pricing development by studying blueprints, plans, bid documents, and engineering specifications, and consult with engineers to ensure final products or technical solutions meet customer expectations.

Requirements: A four year college degree in Electrical Engineering or Sales Management and 15 years’ experience in power distribution, power transmission, paralleling switchgear, substation transformers, and power relays. Extensive experience in cold calling and selling engineering solutions related to the power industry are also required. Ability to travel up to 75% and work in a fast paced environment is a must.

QUOTATIONS SPECIALIST

IEM Power Systems, located in Jacksonville, FL, is a subsidiary of Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM), North America’s largest independent full-line manufacturer of electrical distribution and power quality equipment. IEM Power Systems designs and builds innovative power systems for critical applications where continuous and reliable power is required.

You will be responsible for accurately providing technical-commercial quotations through the analysis of cost of materials and labor associated with designing, engineering and producing final custom assemblies for our LV/MV Switchgear including paralleling equipment and various control systems. Responsibilities encompass completing quotations/proposals which would include reviewing and interpreting engineered drawings and specifications, working closely with our suppliers and interacting regularly with our sales, engineering, production and purchasing departments.

You will be part of the Inside Sales/Application Engineering team which provides the sales force with support by preparing proposals and quotes. Training will be provided on the estimating tools used to generate the quotations. Minimal travel required.

Requirements: A 4 year college degree and a 2 years of experience* with a solid knowledge of LV/MV Switchgear. Experience doing complex proposals/quotations in a factory environment is essential. Strong problem solving skills, excellent computer, communication and organizational skills are a must. Knowledge of paralleling controls and/or PLC/HMI controls is desired. Experience with Design/Build applications is a plus.
