ENGINEERING SYSTEM DESIGN COORDINATOR (JACKSONVILLE, FL)

IEM Power Systems, located in Jacksonville, FL, is a subsidiary of Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM), North America’s largest independent full-line manufacturer of electrical distribution and power quality equipment. IEM Power Systems designs and builds innovative power systems for critical applications where continuous and reliable power is required.

This position is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the Promise.E software to meet the production requirements for both engineering and production departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create, modify and develop library symbols and families as required to support OEM switchgear, switchboard, and control panel applications
  • Manage software database to ensure accurate, up to date symbols exists
  • Organize symbols and library for efficient use within engineering department
  • Create software user manual in regards to specific IEM applications
  • Create electrical standards and drafting document guidelines
  • Provide training to new and existing engineers
  • Create and develop an efficient process to streamline use of Promis.E software
  • Provide training to production and field service departments in regards to Promis.E drawing formats and functionality
  • Provide Promis.E training as required at other IEM facilities
  • Support engineering staff in project completion using Promis.E software
  • Manage all required databases in regards to electrical software applications
  • Assist with creation of interfaces between Promis.E and other IEM software tools to automate processes when applicable
  • Interpret specifications and contract documents to develop designs
  • Create project documents including drawings, operational descriptions, tests and submittals
  • Interface technically and commercially with internal sales, customers and site contractors
  • Specify and order project materials
  • Interface with production department on implementation of designs and processes
  • Mentor and work with junior Engineers on solutions to project challenges
  • Performs other duties which may be required by supervisor

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a four year college or university
  • At least 5 years of experience in a switchgear / switchboard manufacturing environment
  • At least 3 years of experience in use of Promis.E software
  • Previous software implementation and roll out experience
  • Previous ANSI C37.20, UL 1558, and UL 891 experience required

WIRING TECHNICIAN - 2ND SHIEFT: 3:30 PM TO 12:00 AM (JACKSONVILLE, FL)

$14.00/hour plus $.50 shift differential

This position is responsible for performing all wiring and related functions to manufacturing high quality electrical equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, process sheets and schematic drawings
  • Complete assembly and wiring of electrical components per drawings
  • Use wire termination and component layout tools including but not limited to strippers, wire cutters, wire crimpers, screwdrivers, tee square, machinist square, tape measure, wrenches and pliers
  • Follow Company established practices for wire termination, routing, bundles, wire harnesses and wire numbers
  • Wire complete panels per drawings including back panels and wiring between devices/components
  • Operate computer terminal and wire labeling equipment
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Keep the supervisor informed of problems, progress and suggestions in a timely manner
  • Adhere to established safety guidelines
  • Independently inspect own work for in process defects to ensure error-free products
  • Mount devices to back panels and enclosures using a variety of methods including drilling and tapping
  • Identify opportunities that provide cost effective alternative methods to process and materials
  • Keep red-lines of any drawing changes required during manufacturing and turn in to supervisor upon their request
  • Perform other duties which may be required by supervisor

WIRING TECHNICIANS

You will be responsible for the assembly of electrical switchgear and various other electrical equipment.

Requirements A minimum 1 year of experience working with basic shop equipment and tools such as a drill press, bench grinder, band saw, circular saw and other shop tools. The ability to read basic mechanical drawings, and the using, reading and measuring in the English and Metric scales are also a must. Being familiar with hardware (the sizes of bolts and nuts, screws, thread or tap and drill bits), working with a minimum of supervision and being a team player are also essential.


WIRING TECHNICIANS

You will be responsible for the wiring of control panels and switchgear which will include: reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams; drilling, tapping, punching and mounting components to panels and switchgear; mounting electrical components including circuit breakers, switches, transformers, relays, contactors, terminals, input/output devices and/or all other related switchgear electrical devices; and meeting production schedules while maintaining IEM’s strictest quality standards.

Requirements include some experience in a related field: electrical construction, electrician, panel assembly, etc. The ability to work quickly with your hands while maintaining accuracy and high quality, working flexible shifts as required (which may include weekends, evenings and statutory holidays), and being a team player are also a must. MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer designs and tests new components and systems based on customer requirements and switchgear standards. This position also provides technical support to manufacturing, customers, marketing, and sales. Design engineer is also responsible for mechanical design documentation and the maintenance of design software platform.This full-time position is based in Fremont, California.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering required. Minimum 3-5 years of relevant design experience working with sheet metal, injection molding, and large complex enclosures highly desirable. High level of competency in Pro/E and Pro/E data management tools (PRO/Intralink, WindChill, Product Point, etc.) required. Equivalent SolidWorks experience would also meet the requirements for this position.

Summary of Job Duties and Functions:

      • New Product Design and Development
      • Design of switchgear that includes sheet metal and bus work with proper insulation
      • Work closely with manufacturing and incorporate changes as required
      • Design Improvements to Low Voltage Switchgear, Medium Voltage Switchgear, and other Power Distribution Products
      • Release of all drawings to manufacturing (enclosure sheet-metal, bus bars, insulation, supports, etc.)
      • Understanding of manufacturing capabilities and incorporate those into the design
      • Provides technical support to sales and customers as required
      • Use and/or develop tools necessary for engineering calculations using Mathcad, Pro/Mechanica, Excel spread sheet, ANSYS, and other simulation tools
      • Performs other duties as assigned


SALES ENGINEER (SWITCHGEAR – LA AREA)

This position offers an exciting opportunity within an innovative, employee-oriented company and a flexible compensation package.

As a Sales Engineer for IEM in the Greater LA Area, you will be responsible for the sales of IEM Power distribution products (MV/LV Switchgear, Switchboards, Panelboards) through distribution and direct channels. This includes developing and maintaining the large Electrical Contractor accounts, Electrical Consulting Engineer accounts, Electrical Wholesale/Distribution accounts and developing contacts with key end user accounts.

Requirements: A technical degree or equivalent and a minimum 3 years’ experience in the sale of power distribution equipment (MV/LV switchgear/switchboards). A strong track record of negotiating medium and large project orders, successfully developing new contacts, maintaining current relationships with major contractors throughout the sales cycle and maximizing client potential is a must. Experience generating accurate project proposals utilizing MV/LV switchgear to present a complete bid package is required. A self-motivated individual with a high level of professionalism, excellent communication, presentation and negotiating skills are also required. Ideal candidate will be known in the greater LA electrical equipment market and will have developed a trust with a core group of existing contractors/distributors.
