MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for performing all mechanical and related functions to manufacturing high quality electrical equipment. This position is for our Jacksonville, FL facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Read, interpret and follow basic diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other instructions or procedures to accurately assemble materials and equipment.
  • Use multiple measuring devices such as scales, feeler gauges, rulers, micrometers, calipers tee square, machinist square and tape measure to accurately and precisely perform work.
  • Punch, jig or perform layout of enclosure doors or enclosures.
  • Fabricate and install bus bar sections per drawings or instructions.
  • Fabricate, modify and/or install various metallic or non-metallic items and components.
  • Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
  • Perform touch-up painting as directed.
  • Comply with all safety, quality and work rules, guidelines and regulations.
  • Set up, operate and maintain production tools and equipment.
  • Keep the supervisor informed of problems, progress and suggestions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times.
  • Identify opportunities that provide cost effective alternative methods to process and materials.
  • Keep red-lines of any drawing changes required during manufacturing and turn in to supervisor upon their request.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 1 years of experience in a metal fabrication shop using mechanical equipment.
  • Welding experience strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL:

FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for testing functionality of individual components and validating the overall functionality of a completed project and traveling into the field to perform site commissioning. This positionis for our Jacksonville, FL facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform wire checks, Hi-Pots and various forms of electrical testing
  • Validate functionality of projects as compared to the prepared Sequence of Ops
  • Complete all required paperwork and posts in the appropriate job folder
  • Perform on-site testing and verification to ensure proper installation
  • Interact with customers both via e-mail and on-site to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Perform other duties which may be required by supervisor

TRAVEL:

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

As a hands-on senior accountant reporting to the IEM Group Controller, you will help with the day-to-day accounting operations of our manufacturing plant in Fremont, CA.

Responsibilities will include: reconciling accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, job costing and general ledger; creating monthly recurring journal entries; creating and analyzing reports to validate job costing information and inventory burden variances while identifying discrepancies, and coordinating with our Canada and Florida offices to ensure inter-company accounts are reconciled. You will also mentor and train A/P, A/R and other accounting staff, assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to accounting and internal control, and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as the business grows and changes.

Requirements: a BS in Accounting or equivalent and a minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment is required. Strong analytical skills and Microsoft Excel experience, a solid understanding of GAAP, and experience working closely with an ERP software package are also required. Being a team player with excellent verbal and communication skills along with strong problem solving capabilities are also a must.

 


ENTRY LEVEL ASSEMBLERS (LANGLEY, BC)

IEM (Industrial Electric Mfg.) is the largest independent full-line manufacturer of custom electrical distribution and power quality equipment in North America. This position offers an exciting opportunity within an innovative, employee-oriented company and a flexible compensation package. This position is located at our Langley, BC facility.

TRAINING PROVIDED for the wiring and mechanical assembly of control panels and switchgear. No experience required.


ENGINEERING SYSTEM DESIGN COORDINATOR (JACKSONVILLE, FL)

IEM Power Systems, located in Jacksonville, FL, is a subsidiary of Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM), North America’s largest independent full-line manufacturer of electrical distribution and power quality equipment. IEM Power Systems designs and builds innovative power systems for critical applications where continuous and reliable power is required.

This position is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the Promise.E software to meet the production requirements for both engineering and production departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create, modify and develop library symbols and families as required to support OEM switchgear, switchboard, and control panel applications
  • Manage software database to ensure accurate, up to date symbols exists
  • Organize symbols and library for efficient use within engineering department
  • Create software user manual in regards to specific IEM applications
  • Create electrical standards and drafting document guidelines
  • Provide training to new and existing engineers
  • Create and develop an efficient process to streamline use of Promis.E software
  • Provide training to production and field service departments in regards to Promis.E drawing formats and functionality
  • Provide Promis.E training as required at other IEM facilities
  • Support engineering staff in project completion using Promis.E software
  • Manage all required databases in regards to electrical software applications
  • Assist with creation of interfaces between Promis.E and other IEM software tools to automate processes when applicable

WIRING TECHNICIAN - 2ND SHIFT: 3:30 PM TO 12:00 AM (JACKSONVILLE, FL)

$14.00/hour plus $.50 shift differential

This position is responsible for performing all wiring and related functions to manufacturing high quality electrical equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, process sheets and schematic drawings
  • Complete assembly and wiring of electrical components per drawings
  • Use wire termination and component layout tools including but not limited to strippers, wire cutters, wire crimpers, screwdrivers, tee square, machinist square, tape measure, wrenches and pliers
  • Follow Company established practices for wire termination, routing, bundles, wire harnesses and wire numbers
  • Wire complete panels per drawings including back panels and wiring between devices/components
  • Operate computer terminal and wire labeling equipment
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Keep the supervisor informed of problems, progress and suggestions in a timely manner
  • Adhere to established safety guidelines
  • Independently inspect own work for in process defects to ensure error-free products
  • Mount devices to back panels and enclosures using a variety of methods including drilling and tapping
  • Identify opportunities that provide cost effective alternative methods to process and materials

Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer designs and tests new components and systems based on customer requirements and switchgear standards. This position also provides technical support to manufacturing, customers, marketing, and sales. Design engineer is also responsible for mechanical design documentation and the maintenance of design software platform.This full-time position is based in Fremont, California.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering required. Minimum 3-5 years of relevant design experience working with sheet metal, injection molding, and large complex enclosures highly desirable. High level of competency in Pro/E and Pro/E data management tools (PRO/Intralink, WindChill, Product Point, etc.) required. Equivalent SolidWorks experience would also meet the requirements for this position.

Summary of Job Duties and Functions:

  • New Product Design and Development
  • Design of switchgear that includes sheet metal and bus work with proper insulation
  • Work closely with manufacturing and incorporate changes as required
  • Design Improvements to Low Voltage Switchgear, Medium Voltage Switchgear, and other Power Distribution Products
  • Release of all drawings to manufacturing (enclosure sheet-metal, bus bars, insulation, supports, etc.)
  • Understanding of manufacturing capabilities and incorporate those into the design
  • Provides technical support to sales and customers as required
  • Use and/or develop tools necessary for engineering calculations using Mathcad, Pro/Mechanica, Excel spread sheet, ANSYS, and other simulation tools
  • Performs other duties as assigned



SALES ENGINEER (SWITCHGEAR – LA AREA)

This position offers an exciting opportunity within an innovative, employee-oriented company and a flexible compensation package.

As a Sales Engineer for IEM in the Greater LA Area, you will be responsible for the sales of IEM Power distribution products (MV/LV Switchgear, Switchboards, Panelboards) through distribution and direct channels. This includes developing and maintaining the large Electrical Contractor accounts, Electrical Consulting Engineer accounts, Electrical Wholesale/Distribution accounts and developing contacts with key end user accounts.

Requirements: A technical degree or equivalent and a minimum 3 years’ experience in the sale of power distribution equipment (MV/LV switchgear/switchboards). A strong track record of negotiating medium and large project orders, successfully developing new contacts, maintaining current relationships with major contractors throughout the sales cycle and maximizing client potential is a must. Experience generating accurate project proposals utilizing MV/LV switchgear to present a complete bid package is required. A self-motivated individual with a high level of professionalism, excellent communication, presentation and negotiating skills are also required. Ideal candidate will be known in the greater LA electrical equipment market and will have developed a trust with a core group of existing contractors/distributors.
