Available Positions: 


Purpose of position:

In this newly created position, you will be responsible for supervisory design of power products, primarily for data center applications.  In addition to designing products, you will provide oversight and guidance to junior engineers to create an overall package.


Essential Functions:

  • Create drawing package for custom equipment, including LV and MV switchgear, switchboards, ATS’s, control panels, and other power products.
  • Select components and create detailed bills of materials
  • Collaborate with mechanical design team to generate layout drawings of IEM equipment
  • Review customer plans and specs, raising any discrepancies in IEM product offering
  • Review and redline drawings completed from other engineers, primarily for data center clients.  Suggest solutions or alternate designs, where applicable.
  • Ensure that drawing packages created by different design engineers are complete and create a consistent package that meet requirements for particular data center clients.
  • Perform order coordination duties to ensure that the greater engineering team is meeting obligations for data center clients.  Provide feedback to commercial, project management, or field service teams within IEM for any problem items.
  • Attend customer design meetings and participate in factory witness tests.
  • Complete programming assignments for automation components, protective relays, digital meters, communication devices, etc.
  • Provide technical training and product support


Education and Experience:

  • A BSEE or equivalent and a minimum 5 years of experience designing MV/LVSwitchgear.  This must include a solid grasp of three-phase electric power concepts including distribution systems, control and protection strategies.
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code and UL / IEEE standards for various types of electrical equipment (UL 891, 1558, 508A; IEEE C37.20, etc.)
  • Must be a team player with strong verbal/written communication skills and self-motivated with an ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Must have experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products.
  • Previous mentoring or training experience highly preferred.



Purpose of Position:

In this newly created position, you will be responsible for design engineering of North American Rotary UPS system orders. You will work closely with our applications team and our Belgian engineering team to standardize switchgear and control system design packages for the ANSI/UL market, applying high-level engineering concepts to solve real world problems for our clients.


Essential Functions:

  • Create drawing package and bills of materials for North American Rotary UPS orders.
  • Follow and support orders through production and testing phases in Jacksonville, as well as through commissioning and maintenance phases at customer sites.
  • Collaborate with mechanical design and production teams to identify solutions for custom switchboard designs.
  • Work closely with our applications team and Belgian design team to optimize and standardize designs and processes for future orders.
  • Assist with building a library of standard design details, tools and CAD resources for repeatable RUPS applications.
  • Provide technical training and product support for clients on North American Rotary UPS orders.


Education and Experience:

  • A BSEE or equivalent and a minimum 3 years of experience with LV/MV switchgear involving the integration and control of Rotating Machinery.
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Solid understanding of communications hardware, topologies and protocols with emphasis on Ethernet networking, and Modbus.
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code and UL / IEEE standards for various types of electrical equipment (UL 891, 1558, 508A; IEEE C37.20, etc.)
  • Must be a team player with strong verbal/written communication skills and self-motivated with an ability to work independently without supervision.
  • A PLUS: Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings. PLC and HMI application programming experience. Power study and protection coordination experience. Python, EasyPower, SEL QuickSet and Architect, Simulink, and SPICE.



Essential Functions:

Finished goods Inventory deployment planning including:

  • Plans loads and coordinates shipments to finished goods inventory and/or 3PL warehousing.
  • Plans loads and coordinates shipments to finished goods inventory and/or 3PL warehousing to customer sites.
  • Coordinates with our production plant
  • Coordination of customer demand and forecast.
  • Coordination with Production Plant regarding weekly run rates and finished good product availability
  • Reconcile customer demand forecast spreadsheet with requested on-site dates/quantities (minimum weekly, often multiple times per week)

 Administering and coordinating customer’s entire cycle will include but not limited to:

  • Participate in weekly/daily scheduled deployment update meetings with customer and contribute status information.
  • Build quantities, tracking delivery address and site contact information
  • Ongoing daily communication with various departments in customer regarding capacity, inventory, ship dates, delivery dates, pull-ins, push-outs, delivery addresses, contact information, requests for documents, etc.
  • Keeping customer appraised of ship dates, changes, etc. and keeping things “on track”
  • Equipment delivery coordination with each site and confirmation of startup and commissioning schedules/
  • Coordination with IEM Field Service to provide site schedules for technicians.
  • Occasional travel may be required.


Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a minimum 5 years of experience as a successful Administrator or Project Manager in a fast-paced environment are required.
  • Being flexible and exhibiting an outgoing/service-oriented and positive personality is a must.
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal skills, excellent attention to detail, and strong proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint are also required.
  • The ability to prioritize and be effective with many “moving pieces” without supervision is a must.
  • A technical background or experience in a manufacturing/sales environment is a plus.
  • Ability to relocate to South Surrey in early 2021



Purpose of Position:

IEM is seeking hands-on field engineers to support the modification of switchgear and controls, with a focus on industrial automation equipment. The professional chosen for this position will work with the IEM team to assess, troubleshoot, and commission industrial networking and automation hardware into existing customer sites.


Essential Functions:

  • Perform inspections, troubleshooting, and commissioning of a diverse range of LV/MV power and control products. These systems may include automation systems, PLCs, and / or data acquisition systems
  • Identify and propose solutions to system integration issues with equipment from other vendors, including generator sets, UPS’s, transformers, servers, etc.
  • Modify Programs for complex automation and protective relaying systems
  • Identify and propose solutions to product, application, or commissioning issues as reported by customers in the field
  • Provide training for end users at customer sites
  • Travel to customer sites, up to 80%, depending on location

  • Document all service related activity


Education and Experience:

  • A minimum 2 years of experience in the field working with SWITCHGEAR and  electrical distribution equipment
  • Must be able to manage a jobsite independently, creating and executing a plan from a high level directive
  • Familiarity with: lock out tag out procedures involving multiple power sources; Modbus TCP/Serial, Ethernet/IP and networking concepts, troubleshooting of switchgear functions such as circuit breaker mis-operations
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Customer coordination experience with excellent communication skills



Purpose of Position:

This position is responsible for the design of custom MV/LV switchgear for commercial applications, often projects ranging from $300K to $40 million.


Essential Functions:

  • Create drawings and bills of materials from which IEM will build custom electrical switchgear/switchboards (control systems involving PLC’s, intelligent controllers and protective relays will be implemented within designs)
  • Write detailed Sequences of Operation on certain projects with automation components
  • Travel to customer sites occasionally for commissioning, troubleshooting or evaluation purposes as well as travel for job training, project testing or other project related business (should not exceed 10%)


Education and Experience:

  • A BSEE or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years designing MV/LV SWITCHGEAR including an understanding of basic electrical and control system principles and a familiarity with reading electrical schematics, three-line diagrams and control/communications diagrams. 
  • Previous hands-on field experience, willingness to travel, excellent skills with Microsoft Office products and AUTOCAD
  • Knowledge of IEEE/ANSI C37.20,  UL891/1558 design guidelines, NFPA70E and industrial automation are desirable.

Purpose of Position:

This position is responsible for hands-on field service work at customer sites, with a focus on installation of components and subassemblies, wiring, and basic commissioning of IEM equipment primarily in data center or industrial applications.


Essential Functions:

  • Installation and modification of mechanical components and subassemblies of panel board interiors, circuit breakers, bus bar, doors and subpanels, Perform basic testing of modified assemblies (visual, ductor, etc.).
  • Installation and modification of electrical/control components, including wiring.  Perform basic testing (continuity checks, initial power up)
  • Coordinate with Field Project Manager and/or manufacturing facilities to find solutions to product or commissioning issues identified by IEM or reported by the customer in the field
  • Work with the Field Project Manager to identify if additional field resources will be needed
  • Perform equipment inspections upon arrival and after installation; document deficiencies
  • Perform preventive maintenance, field installations and modifications


Education and Experience

  • A technical/vocational degree or equivalent and a minimum 1 yr. of experience working in a manufacturing environment or field service role with a focus on power products.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. The majority of work is expected to be within (50) miles of Sterling, VA, but domestic or travel internationally may occasionally be required.  Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.

Purpose of Position:

This position is responsible for planning, organizing and monitoring the shipping of products and receiving, storing and distributing of all items received to ensure a smooth and consistent operation so parts and supplies are located and distributed in an effective and efficient manner.  Responsibilities also include maintaining an accurate inventory along with performing cycle counts and an annual physical inventory.  This position is at our North location.


Essential Functions:

  • Plan and coordinate work, trains and monitors activities of Material Control Attendant.
  • Verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment.
  • Receive incoming products and materials.
  • Prepare and expedite shipments.
  • Prepare and tag metal for Paint.
  • Check in and verify metal returning from paint.
  • Oversee cycle counts
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing receiving/shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments as well as inventory accuracy.
  • Direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving area to storage work areas.
  • Notify and/or deliver incoming product to end user.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Interpret packing slips and enter into computer system.
  • Complete shipping and receiving reports.
  • Perform daily inspection of Fork Lift.
  • Adhere to established safety guidelines.
  • Perform other duties which may be required by supervisor.


Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in shipping/receiving, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be a licensed fork lift operator or have the ability to become licensed.



Purpose of Position:

This position is responsible for supervising the employees of the In Factory Test Department to ensure manufactured equipment is in compliance with all functional test requirements, and customer expected shipping schedules are maintained. Perform testing as required and assist Engineering and Commercial Services Departments regarding schedule and documentation related issues. 


Essential Functions:

  • Experienced in the manufacture and testing of Low and Medium Voltage switchboards and switchgear up to 38kV
  • Experienced in the manufacture and testing of Industrial Control Panels
  • Schedule all testing personnel to meet required ship dates.
  • Assist Scheduling and Commercial Services Departments in preparing overall production planning and shipping schedules.
  • Provide training and support to staff as needed.
  • Develop custom test reports as required. Assist field service group with detailed site acceptance documents when needed.
  • Maintain standard test records and documentation for all equipment manufactured in factories
  • Confirm all test reports, time, redlines and vendor supplied reports are properly filed prior to equipment shipping.
  • Investigate and work with Engineering to resolve technical issues.
  • Perform inspections and wiring checks.
  • Work with the Automation group on programming of multi-function meters, protective relays and multi-function controllers.
  • Work with Automation group on Testing of PLC and HMI programs.
  • Perform dielectric strength testing per all regulatory standards.
  • Initial powering of A/C, D/C and control circuits.
  • Verify proper operation of equipment per IEM drawings and sequence of operation.
  • Handle coordination with production and scheduling groups to maintain shipping schedules.
  • Perform other duties which may be required by supervisor.

  • Four year college degree in Electrical Engineering.  One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
  • At least 10 years of experience in power generation, project management, switchgear testing, programming and start-up.



Low-Voltage and Medium-Voltage Assemblers - 1st Shift 6AM - 2:30PM

Essential Functions:

  • Complete the assembly of large and complex electrical equipment, including bus bar and electrical components
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to use hand tools and tape measure
  • Working well with others, following instructions, and being capable of lifting 50 lbs. TRAINING PROVIDED



  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience in a metal fabrication shop using mechanical equipment is a plus.
  • Welding experience is a plus.


Physical Demands:

  • Sitting - 10%; Walking/Standing - 90%
  • Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl and climb.
  • Long periods of close work on small fonts and fine print on drawings and ability to see small or detailed items.


Mental Demands:

Shop/warehouse. Not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibration, hazards, dust and fumes.
