FIELD SERVICE  (MECHANICAL / ELECTRICAL ASSEMBLY TECH) – STERLING ,VA

Purpose of Position:

This position is responsible for hands-on field service work at customer sites, with a focus on installation of components and subassemblies, and basic commissioning of IEM equipment primarily in data center or industrial applications.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Installation and modification of mechanical components and subassemblies of panel board interiors, circuit breakers, bus bar, switchgear section doors and subpanels, addition of control components, power cabling and light control wiring, perform basic testing of modified assemblies (visual, ductor, etc.).
  • Coordinate with Field Project Manager and/or manufacturing facilities to find solutions to product or commissioning issues identified by IEM or reported by the customer in the field
  • Work with the Field Project Manager to identify if additional field resources will be needed
  • Perform preventive maintenance, field installations and modifications
  • Technical product support
  • Work with project engineers and project managers to select and coordinate the installation and replacement of parts

 

Education and Experience:

  • A technical or vocational degree and a minimum 3 yrs. of experience working in a manufacturing environment or field service role with a focus on power products.
  • Must be a team player and have strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision is a must
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. The majority of work is expected to be within (50) miles of Sterling, VA, but domestic or travel internationally may occasionally be required.  Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.

FIELD SERVICE (SWGR AND CONTROL COMMISSIONING TECH) – STERLING, VA

Purpose of Position:

This position is responsible for hands-on field service work at customer sites, with a focus on installation of components and subassemblies, and basic commissioning of IEM equipment primarily in data center or industrial applications.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Attend project meetings as required, including coordination with contractors and clients
  • Installation and modification of mechanical and electrical components and subassemblies
  • Perform pre-energization inspections on IEM equipment
  • Perform level 2 through level 4 commissioning of IEM equipment
  • Perform modification to programming for automation, protection or monitoring devices within IEM products
  • Identify and propose solutions to system integration issues with other vendor’s equipment
  • Coordinate with Field Project Manager and/or manufacturing facilities to find solutions to product or commissioning issues identified by IEM or reported by the customer in the field
  • Work with the Field Project Manager to identify if additional field resources or teams are needed.

SUPERVISOR OF TEST DEPARTMENT – JACKSONVILLE, FL

Purpose of Position:

This position is responsible for supervising the employees of the In Factory Test Department to ensure manufactured equipment is in compliance with all functional test requirements, and customer expected shipping schedules are maintained. Perform testing as required and assist Engineering and Commercial Services Departments regarding schedule and documentation related issues. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Experienced in the manufacture and testing of Low and Medium Voltage switchboards and switchgear up to 38kV
  • Experienced in the manufacture and testing of Industrial Control Panels
  • Schedule all testing personnel to meet required ship dates.
  • Assist Scheduling and Commercial Services Departments in preparing overall production planning and shipping schedules.
  • Provide training and support to staff as needed.
  • Develop custom test reports as required. Assist field service group with detailed site acceptance documents when needed.
  • Maintain standard test records and documentation for all equipment manufactured in factories
  • Confirm all test reports, time, redlines and vendor supplied reports are properly filed prior to equipment shipping.
  • Investigate and work with Engineering to resolve technical issues.
  • Perform inspections and wiring checks.
  • Work with the Automation group on programming of multi-function meters, protective relays and multi-function controllers.
  • Work with Automation group on Testing of PLC and HMI programs.
  • Perform dielectric strength testing per all regulatory standards.
  • Initial powering of A/C, D/C and control circuits.
  • Verify proper operation of equipment per IEM drawings and sequence of operation.
  • Handle coordination with production and scheduling groups to maintain shipping schedules.
  • Perform other duties which may be required by supervisor.

ENGINEERING MANAGER -- JACKSONVILLE, FL

Purpose of Position:

This position is responsible for directly managing the Jacksonville based design engineering group and supporting the needs of the Jacksonville production and test facilities.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Completes performance reviews and provides mentorship for all local and remotely-based design engineers working under the umbrella of the local facility.
  • Ensures that all engineers are working diligently, communicating effectively, growing their skills and meeting project deadlines as set by production and sales schedules.
  • Ensures that all engineers are following IEM processes and applying standard components/designs whenever possible.
  • Ensure that engineers are meeting the needs of their assigned product team, as set forth by the team’s lead engineer(s).  Works with product team leads to select and mentor engineers toward their area of expertise.
  • Takes accountability for the performance of all subordinate design engineers.  Instills and encourages a sense of personal and professional accountability in engineering staff.  Addresses deficiencies in staff, when required.
  • Works with scheduler to ensure the best possible engineer gets assigned to each customer order, given the skills and experience of the engineering staff and current workload.
  • Works with engineers to ensure they are meeting deadlines and communicating delays to management, the scheduler, the sales dept, project managers and other appropriate parties.
  • Work with local operations and production managers to proactively solve engineering related problems and ensure the staff is supporting the needs of the production facility.
  • Works with the director of engineering and local management to promptly address staff or process deficiencies.
  • Supports the local production team by ensuring that their questions get answered promptly and ongoing issues pertaining to designs or drawings are resolved.
  • Reviews all drawings to be built at the local manufacturing facility to ensure they are complete, accurate and contain all necessary information.  Ensure that the BOM contains all items necessary to build the product at the local plant.  Ensure that jobs get reviewed and redlined by the appropriate subject matter experts and that updates are made.  This includes projects engineered by local staff that report directly to the manager and to remotely engineered drawings.
  • Facilitates factory tours, witness tests, and technical meetings.
  • Works with test department and production staff to coordinate high level testing of IEM products and systems in the local test facility
  • Works with project engineers, QC and test to perform inspections and sign-off of equipment prior to shipment.
  • Work with other engineering managers within IEM, engineering leads and upper management to identify areas of improvement and to implement and enforce engineering standards.
  • Provide and facilitate technical training exercises for local and remote engineering teams.
  • Travel to customer sites or other IEM facilities occasionally for engineering surveys, training, engineering department meetings, technical project meetings, or other project related business.  Travel should not exceed 15%

FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER (SWITCHGEAR COMMUNICATIONS AND AUTOMATION) – JACKSONVILLE, FL / STERLING, VA / OR WITHIN 300 MILES OF BOARDMAN, OR (INCLUDES PORTLAND, SEATTLE, SPOKANE, BEND, EUGENE).


Purpose of Position:

IEM is seeking hands-on field engineers to support the modification of switchgear and controls, with a
focus on industrial automation equipment. The professional chosen for this position will work with the
IEM team to assess, troubleshoot, and commission industrial networking and automation hardware into
existing customer sites.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Perform inspections, troubleshooting and commissioning of power products. These systems may include automation systems, PLCs, and / or data acquisition systems
  • Assess customer industrial network prior to engineering and service efforts to determine scope of work to be performed
  • Select appropriate hardware based on site requirements and protocols used and create engineering documents for purchase and manufacturing
  • Work with commercial and engineering teams to create schedules and installation plan, including generation of drawings and writing of detailed sequences of operations
  • Coordinate and assist with equipment installation with site representatives
  • Execute site installation plan, utilizing understanding of industrial communications architectures, engineering, power distribution, and automation equipment
  • Program complex automation and protective relaying systems
  • Technical product support and troubleshooting
  • Provide training for end users at customer sites

Education and Experience:

SALES PROJECT MANAGER III - FREMONT, CA

Purpose of Position: 

This position is responsible for effectively managing and maintaining relationships between the company and our customers during the order cycle by working directly with customers to access and help meet their needs. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain and/or develop proven systems to track orders from order entry to shipment/delivery to ensure timeliness of shipment to meet customer’s expectation.
  • Maintain strong support for and interact with the Regional Sales Managers and outside sale representatives in the bid process, which includes all order management activities.
  • Coordinate with other internal departments and outside sales representatives/customers to achieve on-time shipment.
  • Review customer Purchase Order and resolves any commercial/technical issues.
  • Prepare order for entry along with managing all associated documents and correspondence.
  • Participate in engineering handoff meetings when applicable.
  • Work with engineering and customer through the submittal and release process.
  • Work with engineering, quotations, sales and customer to manage change orders.
  • Interface with Supply Chain to ensure material availability
  • Use system generated reports or develop effective reports that track order status and flag potential issues with orders.
  • Proactively anticipate, identify and resolve possible issues with orders that may cause delays or other customer complaints.
  • Perform other duties, which may be required by supervisor.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or Project Management Certification.
  • Minimum 4-7 years of experience in a Project Management or similar position.
  • Manufacturing environment in an electrical power industry is a plus
  • Knowledge of LV/MV switchgear products is a plus
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)

FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER / TECHNICIAN - JACKSONVILLE, FL

Essential Functions:

  • Commissioning, troubleshooting, analyzing/identifying causes of mis-operation, performing site training and repairing instruments/products at customer’s location.
  • Writing of detailed test procedures and field service trip reports is also an essential function. 
  • This position also includes performing in-house functional testing of IEMPS products prior to shipment.

 

Education and Experience:

  • AS degree or equivalent and a minimum 2 years of experience in the field working with complex electrical equipment
  • Ability to make changes to HMI screen & PLC ladder logic programming is highly desirable. 
  • A willingness to travel (up to 50%), being a team player, having strong communication skills and an ability to work independently without supervision are a must. Will relocate to Jacksonville, FL.
  • Testing electrical equipment or instrumentation using several types of test equipment including Hi-Pot, Meggar, 3 Phase Relay Test Equipment, milliamp simulators and multimeters is strongly preferred 
  • It is a plus if you have experience with multiple/paralleling generator control system start-ups utilizing multi-function protection relays (Basler, GE or Schweitzer) and multi-function engine controllers (Woodward & ComAp).  Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.

 


ENTRY-LEVEL PRODUCTION WORKER – FREMONT, CA

Low-Voltage and Medium-Voltage Assemblers - 1st Shift 6AM - 2:30PM

Essential Functions:

  • Complete the assembly of large and complex electrical equipment, including bus bar and electrical components
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to use hand tools and tape measure
  • Working well with others, following instructions, and being capable of lifting 50 lbs. TRAINING PROVIDED

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience in a metal fabrication shop using mechanical equipment is a plus.
  • Welding experience is a plus.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Sitting - 10%; Walking/Standing - 90%
  • Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl and climb.
  • Long periods of close work on small fonts and fine print on drawings and ability to see small or detailed items.
