MV Switchgear Design Engineer

IEM (Industrial Electric Manufacturing, Inc.) is the largest independent full-line manufacturer of custom electrical distribution and power quality equipment in North America. IEM has delivered customer-specific solutions to meet the ever changing power requirements of growth industries in North America for over half century. This position offers an exciting opportunity with a growing, employee-oriented company.

You will be responsible for the design of medium voltage switchgear for commercial applications on a project by project basis. Primary duties will include equipment layout, component selection, electrical & wiring design, and bill of material summarization; technical review of new projects with sales / marketing group, and interface with customers / consultants to resolve any technical design issues in parts / specifications / drawings. Open to a remote location within the US for this position.

Requirements include a BSEE or equivalent and a minimum 5 years of experience designing medium voltage switchgear (5 kV – 27 kV). Low voltage design experience and familiarity with IEEE/ANSI 37.20 and UL891/1558 design guidelines as well as Arc Flash standards IEEE1584 and NFPA70E are desirable. Product testing/certification and Arc flash testing, experience with complex PLC control (hardware design) and writing sequence of operations for complex commercial applications would also be a plus. Familiarity with one or more PLC platforms such as Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc and Siemens, and HMI’s such as Wonderware, Intellution, UL / CSA certification and testing experience, and design experience in paralleling switchgear and/or automatic transfer are also desirable. Excellent communication skills are a must.

Switchgear and Controls Design Engineer (MV/LV)

IEM Canada – Industrial Electric Mfg. (Canada) Inc., was formed in 2007 to expand IEM’s offering to include Power Distribution and Power Generation electrical distribution solutions in both Canada and the US. IEM Canada offers access to the full complement of electrical distribution products and services provided by IEM, including local design consulting, custom manufacturing, sales and service support. This new positions offers an exciting growth opportunity with a very employee-oriented company.

You will be responsible for the design of medium and low voltage switchgear for commercial applications on a project by project basis. Primary duties will include equipment layout, component selection, electrical & wiring design, and bill of material summarization; technical review of new projects with sales / marketing group, and interface with customers / consultants to resolve any technical design issues in parts / specifications / drawings.

Wiring Technicians – IEM Canada

This new positions offers an exciting growth opportunity with a very employee-oriented company.

You will be responsible for the wiring of control panels and switchgear which will include: reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams; drilling, tapping, punching and mounting components to panels and switchgear; mounting electrical components including circuit breakers, switches, transformers, relays, contactors, terminals, input/output devices and/or all other related switchgear electrical devices; and meeting production schedules while maintaining IEM’s strictest quality standards.

Requirements include 2+ years experience in a related industry: electrical construction, electrician, panel assembly, etc. The ability to work quickly with your hands while maintaining accuracy and high quality, working flexible shifts as required (which may include weekends, evenings and statutory holidays), and being a team player are also a must.

Western Regional Sales Manager – Switchgear (AB, SK, MB)

IEM Canada offers Canadian customers access to the full complement of electrical distribution products and services provided by IEM, including local design consulting, custom manufacturing, sales and service support. IEM, with 60 years of operating experience, has developed one of the most sophisticated electrical product manufacturing systems in the world and has cultivated partnerships with leading component suppliers resulting in optimal solutions to customer problems.

As Western Regional Sales Manager (AB,SK, MB) of this fast growing, employee-oriented company, you will be responsible for business development of IEM Power distribution product (MV/LV Switchgear, Switchboards, Panel boards) through multiple sales channels. This includes developing electrical contractor accounts, key Design/Procure/Construct accounts, Electrical Wholesale/Distribution accounts and developing contacts with key end user accounts to obtain acceptance and /or specs of IEM products. You will also support business development of IEM Power Generation products (Paralleling Switchgear) working closely with the IEMC Sales Manager – Power Generation, and support development of Engine/Generator Distributor/Dealer accounts. Market research, sales forecasts and expense planning within the region will also be included. Territory: AB, SK, MB

Requirements include a technical degree or equivalent and a minimum 2 years’ experience in the sale of power distribution equipment (switchgear/switchboards.) A dynamic individual with a strong track record of success generating new contacts and relationships along with having a high level of professionalism and excellent communication skills are also required.
