At IEM, we believe that sustainability begins at home. It starts with us, but extends to and through our contract partners and end-customers – creating an environmentally conscious team that can help satisfy the need for power while using our resources as productively as possible.

In-house, we recycle copper and aluminum bus, sheet metal, cardboard, paper, and plastic. We use energy-efficient lighting with occupancy detection throughout the plant for light and energy conservation. We extensively insulate and deploy thermostatic zone control to minimize heat consumption and loss. Our custom paint line uses no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) that are released by solvent-based paints. And, our parallel manufacturing process speeds production, lowering our carbon footprint.

IEM products bring our customers into play as partners sustaining the environment. Our custom equipment is more energy and space-efficient than standard solutions, minimizing the use of raw materials and reducing waste. IEM Medium Voltage Switchgear utilizes vacuum circuit breaker technology in lieu of harmful SF6 gas (a green house gas with high global warming potential). And, our new line of parallel switchgear manages the transition from utility power to on-site power sources making practical use of alternate energy systems. IEM’s practice of specifying optimal components from the best manufacturers saves energy and allows our customers to maximize their LEED credits.
